Get ready, cuz here we come!

Well, all I can say is... it's about time! After an extended hiatus due to COVID, I am so excited that The Musettes is ready to start auditions/rehearsals for a 2022 Christmas Concert. So here's some thoughts to prep you for the upcoming season of Musettes:
1. Start singing! This may seem like a no-brainer, but if you've allowed your vocal folds to get lazy this summer, you don't want to show up to your first rehearsal and sing full-out for two hours. You'll be hoarse as a horse the next day. So start singing a little bit more every day. Practice a musical number for church, sing in the shower, start looking for a song for auditions, etc. Strengthening your vocal muscles now will help you avoid vocal fatigue in the fall.
2. Tell your friends. Most ladies learn about the choir through word-of-mouth. When your friends ask about upcoming plans, tell them "I'm part of a community women's choir called The Musettes and I love it! (Then tell them what you love about it.) You should totally do it with me! Are you interested in auditioning?" New members are the lifeblood of The Musettes and help keep the legacy alive.
3. Mark your calendar!
Auditions are usually the last week in August or the first week in September. Rehearsals are every Thursday 9:15-11:30am. Watch the Musettes Musings facebook page for updates on rehearsal and performance dates, and let your family and other interested parties know you'll be busy Thursday mornings so you don't double-book yourself.
4. How you can help:
We still desperately need a pianist (or two or three to share the load if they also want to sing) so if you know someone who can tickle the ivories, and would enjoy being part of our sisterhood, contact Christy or Susan right away!
Consider which committee(s) you'd like to be a part of this year. All choir members are encouraged to join a committee, so make that decision now and be prepared to jump in feet first!
5. Stay healthy.
Get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids to keep your body healthy. Late September to Early October is always SICK SEASON, so take care of yourself so you don't miss rehearsals.
I imagine there will be plenty of hurdles on our way to our first Musettes concert in 3 years. But if we believe in each other and do our very best, I know the Musettes can leap over those hurdles and cross the finish line in fabulous, glitterific style!
